Generative AI in East Asian Newsrooms: Adoption, Anxiety, and Editorial Gatekeeping in Korea, Japan, and TaiwanHye-Jin Moon, Sota Yamamoto
Drawing on 62 interviews with journalists and editors in Seoul, Tokyo, and Taipei, this study compares newsroom adoption of generative AI tools. We identify three gatekeeping regimes — experimental, contained, and prohibited — and link them to organizational ownership structures and national AI governance debates.

The Belt and Road Online: Mapping a Decade of BRI Discourse in Southeast Asian News MediaArif Wibowo
Ten years after the Belt and Road Initiative's launch, this article maps its discursive career across 41 Southeast Asian news outlets (2013–2023). Topic modeling of 85,000 articles shows a shift from infrastructure optimism toward debt-sustainability and sovereignty frames, moderated by each country's economic exposure to Chinese lending.

Platform Labor in Transition: Food Delivery Riders and Algorithmic Management in Seoul and JakartaJi-Won Kang, Putri Andini
This comparative ethnography of food-delivery riders in Seoul and Jakarta examines how algorithmic management is experienced, contested, and re-negotiated in different labor-market institutions. We show that riders' collective repertoires diverge sharply: app-mediated unionism in Seoul versus mutual-aid moderation networks in Jakarta.
